THE USE OF QUIZIZZ AS AN ONLINE LEARNING TOOL IN EARLY SCIENCE FOR PRESCHOOL

Abstract
Quizizz is an educational online game application to implement the Game-Based Learning approach that involves children’s learning process. This action research explores the uses of Quizizz by discovering the preschool children’s perception of using Quizizz and how Quizizz influences children learning of Early Science. Moreover, the action research also aims to find the challenges of implementing the Game Based-Learning approach using Quizizz faced by the teacher-researcher and children in Early Science teaching and learning process. This action research was conducted in one of Brunei’s government primary school. One cycle of action research was conducted virtually during the pandemic to explore the uses of Quizizz and how it helps children’s learning process. This action research used three different methods that could support each other which are online interview, online observation, and reflective journal. Five preschool children aged 5 to 6 years old was participated in the action research to complete the learning activities using Quizizz. This research has found that Quizizz has positively influenced children learning in Early Science despite the challenges faced. Integrating play using Quizizz in children’s learning has shaped positively children’s cognitive and socio-emotional development. It developed children’s critical thinking and engagement in the learning activity. Implementing Game-Based Learning using Quizizz also creates an enjoyable learning experience for children to be actively engaged in the learning.
